For years, Amazon WorkMail has been a favourite e-mail solution for many of our customers here at LaniSys Hosting Canada. With full Microsoft Exchange compatibility and an unbeatable price of just $6 per user per month, it was difficult to argue against — and we were proud to offer it as part of our service lineup.
While Amazon did release some welcomed improvements to the webmail interface over the past few months, the writing is now on the wall: following Amazon’s $1 billion cloud deal with Microsoft, Amazon has announced that WorkMail will be permanently discontinued. As a result, LaniSys Hosting Canada will be ending support for Amazon WorkMail effective March 31, 2027.
We understand this news may come as an inconvenience, and we want to make this transition as smooth as possible for every one of our valued customers.
Key Dates to Know
📅 April 30, 2026 — No New Sign-Ups
Amazon WorkMail will stop accepting new customers. Existing accounts created before this date remain active.
🔴 March 31, 2027 — Full Service Shutdown
Amazon WorkMail will be completely discontinued. All customers will lose access to the service on this date.
What This Means for You
If you signed up for Amazon WorkMail before April 30, 2026, you are able to continue using all WorkMail features as normal until March 31, 2027. After that date, access to Amazon WorkMail — including your e-mail, contacts, and calendar data — will no longer be available.
We strongly encourage all WorkMail customers to begin planning their migration well in advance of the shutdown date to avoid any disruption to their business communications.
